FAQ

Please note: the organization and referees reserve the right to change or update aspects of the tournament at their own discretion. For further questions: send an email to amsterdamchessopen@gmail.com!

  • No, it is not possible to play in another group. As an organization, we have noticed that it is not pleasant for players if there is too big a difference in rating with their opponent. That is why we choose not to make exceptions in this area.

We use the rating of October 1, 2025 to make the classifications.

  • It is possible to unsubscribe and get your money back up to two weeks before the start of the tournament (October 10, 2025). We do charge €5,- administration costs for this.

  • No, the organization ensures that all the material is available to have a pleasant tournament!

  • The participant lists will be updated weekly from mid-September. Before that, this will happen less regularly.

  • If you have registered and paid, you can contact the organization about a Letter of Invitation. The organization will then ask for additional information. The organization can then also decide not to give the Letter of Invitation.

  • Yes, that is possible! There will only be an additional charge of €12.50 because we still have to register you with the association. You will then have a KNSB & FIDE ID for other tournaments right after the tournament!

  • In principle yes, but placement in group C is also possible based on additional information, such as the rating of online chess accounts.

  • Due to the high number of participants, the Amsterdam Chess Open is subject to VAT. In addition, the Amsterdam Chess Open awards relatively large prize money in the lower groups, because we believe that every chess player should feel that their games matter. These factors result in the fixed price of 50 euros, but as an organization we are open to feedback in this area

  • Some websites have listed incorrect information about the Amsterdam Chess Open, which unfortunately is something we cannot always control. If you want to be sure to have the correct information, always check this website. If in doubt, it is also always possible to send us an email with any question you may have!
