General information

Below you will find the information about the fourth edition of the Amsterdam Chess Open, which will be held on October 23-25, 2026.

Registration fee

  • The registration fee for the Amsterdam Chess Open 2026 is €50,-.

  • The registration fees for titled players are as follows:

    • (W)GM, (W)IM free

    • (W)FM receive a 50% discount until September 1, after which regular costs apply

Registration is not final until the payment is complete.

Deregistering

Until two weeks before the start of the tournament (October 9) it is possible to deregister and get your registration fee refunded. We do however, charge a €5,- administration fee for deregistration.

 

Rating groups

A-group: accessible to players with a rating of at least 2050,
B1/B2-group: accessible to players with a rating between 1850 and 2100,
C1/C2-group: accessible to players with a rating between 1650 and 1900,
D1/D2-group: accessible to players with a rating of up to 1700.

Prize money

The prize money for the fourth edition of the Amsterdam Chess Open in 2026 will be distributed as indicated in the table below. This prize money is guaranteed when the tournament reaches 650 participants. With fewer participants, the prize money will be adjusted proportionally to the number of registrations. If a player qualifies for more prizes, only the highest prize will be awarded.

Playing times

Friday October 23th

  • First round: 10:00

  • Second round: 15:30

Saturday October 24

  • Third round: 10:00

  • Fourth round: 15:30

Sunday October 25

  • Fifth round: 9:00

  • Sixth round: 14:30

  • Award Ceremony: As soon as possible after the last round

Format

Matchmaking will happen according to the accelerated Swiss system. The games will be played with 90 minutes of thinking time and 30 seconds increment for the entire game.

 

BYE's

It is possible to request two BYEs for the first four rounds. For a BYE you get 0.5 points.
